West Coast Pesto Pizza

December 2010 – Heading south for yet another trip to Florida, we decided to try to make it to Kennesaw, GA before the closing time of 10:00pm so we could grab a pizza at Big Pie in the Sky.  I called about 3 hours before arriving, and informed the girl who answered the phone that we’d be arriving right at 10pm, and asked if they could have a pick-up order waiting for us when we got there.  She agreed, so long as we weren’t past 10.  (I guess when you tell someone that you’re literally coming from ten and a half hours away to get one of their pizzas, that’s not important enough for them to wait even 5 minutes later, as I had asked.)

In any case, we arrived roughly at 9:55, so our pizza was waiting for us.  It wasn’t exactly hot, but it was ready.  We ordered a large West Coast Pesto a pizza (Romano, Pesto, Cream Cheese and Chicken) and an Italian Sub.  If you’re a party of 2, ordering a large pizza here might be a mistake.  They weren’t kidding about large.  A large is a 20″ pie, so the slices are absolutely enormous.  It was an interesting combination of flavors, but I’m not so certain I’d order it again.  It’s not that it wasn’t good, but rather there are other pizzas on the menu I’d rather try if I were to stop in again.  The Italian sub was OK, but a little greasy.  It was nothing to write home about.  Would I eat pizza here again?  If I were in the area and I were hungry, I’d give it another shot.  I wouldn’t make a destination out of it again though.
