December 2007 — While watching Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, we saw Guy eating at a place in Potterville, MI called Joe’s Gizzard City, which looked interesting to say the least.  After trying a number of other fried foods, Guy reluctantly ate the deep fried gizzards, and while he didn’t seem to want them, he really seemed to like them.  Actually, he kept eating them while he was talking, so they couldn’t be that bad.  Anyone who can make gizzards taste good must have a great menu.  We decided to go.

We drove two hours from Toledo to Potterville and arrived hungry.  My wife and I ordered DDD burgers (cheeseburger that is completely deep fried),  my dad ordered fried gizzards, and my mom ordered the fried chicken.  This food was incredible.  While eating the burger, you knew you were eating something bad for you, so it’s not the kind of thing you eat every day, but it was definitely tasty.  The fried chicken was also fantastic.  What really surprised me the most was the gizzards.  I tried a few, and I was really impressed.   They’re pressure cooked with garlic and other spices to make them tender, then breaded and deep fried.  I couldn’t believe I actually ate them, and I couldn’t believe they were good.

The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly.  Actually, when the owner (Joe) heard that we drove from  Toledo to try his place out, he came out to meet  us personally.  All in all, the place was excellent, and I’d eat there again in a heartbeat.
